Dreams are unique repositories of our personal imagery. They stimulate our imagination by boldly creating absurd situations and making connections for which our waking rational thinking often gets in the way. If we mapped our dreams, could we better explore their patterns, connections and potentials?
Translating an abstract subject into a geographical territory, the Dream Volcano is a metaphor that allows us to discover the nature of dreams in a new way. In the form of an illustrated atlas, Alexandra Ruppert visualized personal experiences and observations on dreams and lucid dreams, drawing from a collection of more than 400 personal dream records. As individual as the described experiences may seem, „Atlas of a Dream Volcano“ also invites others to travel their own dream territory.
